Electric current is applied in order to remove chloride ions, which penetrate from exposure environment and trigger corrosion of reinforcing steel bar in reinforced concrete structure, out of concrete region. The generation of hydroxide ions due to cathodic reaction can re-protect the reinforcing steel bar after applying electro-chemical chloride extraction.
