SAMURAI and ORCID
NIMS encourages its researchers and engineers to obtain and use ORCID. In addition, registration with ORCID is required to publish their profile on SAMURAI.
In order to register your ORCID in SAMURAI, please login to SAMURAI using NIMS email account via the "Connect with ORCID" button on this page.
What is ORCID?
ORCID is a digital identifier that researchers can use throughout their careers. ORCID makes it easier to manage lists of research outputs and submit papers. It also ensures that researchers' work can be accurately retrieved from academic databases even if their name or affiliation changes.
Frequently asked questions
What are the benefits of ORCID?
By obtaining an ORCID identifier and registering it when submitting a paper, you can not only skip entering your author name in future submissions but also automatically link your ORCID to the DOIs of your published works. This allows you to automatically and accurately update your list of publications (see Auto-updates). Many publishers and academic societies support the use of ORCID when submitting papers.
For more information, please visit "For researchers" on the ORCID website.
I already have an ORCID ID from before I joined NIMS. Do I need to get a new one?
You do not need to obtain a new ORCID identifier. Furthermore, the ORCID identifier you obtain at NIMS can be used even after you transfer from NIMS to another research institution. In other words, once you have obtained an ORCID identifier, you can continue to use it for the rest of your life.
If you have multiple ORCID identifiers, you can merge them. Please contact to ORCID support (support@orcid.org).
How can I add my works to ORCID?
You can add your works to ORCID in multuple ways. Please refer to ORCID Web site for more information. If you have any question about adding works, please contact to SAMURAI administrators (samurai@ml.nims.go.jp).
