Transparent thermoelectric device for simultaneously harvesting radiative cooling and solar heating
NIMS author(s)
Introduction
As an environmental power generation device that can generate electricity 24 hours a day, this study has realized a thermoelectric device that can simultaneously utilize solar heat and radiative cooling by using transparent thermoelectric thin films. In order to increase the temperature difference, the transparent thermoelectric thin film is placed upright against the element, with a transparent sheet at the top and a black plate at the bottom. This arrangement provides a temperature difference to the transparent thermoelectric thin films by radiative cooling and solar heat in daytime and radiative cooling at nighttime. Measurements taken outdoors demonstrated that the device generates electricity 24 hours a day.
